Introduction Letter

Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family,

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying this holiday season. We have thoroughly enjoyed our first year together. It has been very full and rich. This past summer we both were blessed to be very busy with work. For our first anniversary we were able to go to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and had a wonderful time! We got to see lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery. We were also able to start back up helping with the youth group at our church again. We really love being involved in the kids’ lives in a positive way.
God has laid something very special on our hearts that we would like to share with you.  During the course of this past year He has opened our ears to the cry of the orphans. It is a cry that He himself hears and urges all to be a part of helping change the extremely difficult conditions that most orphans face. We feel God is asking us to be part of the solution. We want to do this by helping the orphan’s cry be heard.

“…You will cause your ear to hear, to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed...” Psalms 10:17-18

As many of you know I, Laura, spent two months in Busia, Uganda at New Hope Orphanage where I got to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving and comforting the orphans there.  That trip ignited a passion for the fatherless in me and that passion has continued to burn.
As that passion has continued to grow in us as a couple we feel so strongly that we are to be apart of expanding New Hope’s potential to reach out to more of the orphans in Busia, Uganda.  After much prayer and seeking, we have discovered that New Hope’s biggest need is housing for the children.  While Laura was at the orphanage the living quarters were very tight.  The bunk beds were three high with multiple children on each bed.  At that time New Hope was providing care for about 75 children, and now they care for about 130 children.  They have added these children without adding any new housing space. They are maxed out and this is limiting their ability to minister to other orphans.
Ken Mulago is the orphanage director.  He has such a big heart for the vulnerable children of Busia.  He has a very hard time turning children away due to space issues.  We want to equip Ken and New Hope with a new dormitory building that will provide more space for reaching more children.  This is going to be a very big task, but we have faith in a very big God!

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  Matthew 19:26

We are very aware that things are tough economically but God is not affected by this economy.  We are asking that you would please join us in prayer as we start raising the $17,000 needed to construct a new and bigger housing facility for New Hope.  As of now our plan is to go to Uganda the Fall of 2011 and begin construction on the new building. We are so excited to see the big work God is going to do on behalf of the orphans. Would you be willing to join us in continued pray and keep updated on this endeavor?  If so, please subscribe to our blog to keep updated: www.newhope4newhope.blogspot.com
We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. We love you all!
Blessings,
